Les Maisons de Giroudet

Les Maisons de Giroudet occupy an 18th-century farmstead in Écrosnes, in the Eure-et-Loir, between Chartres and Rambouillet. We bought it in 2023 and spent two years renovating it before welcoming our first guests.

Love at first sight

It all began with love at first sight. Ours, Maëva and Pablo’s, for this stone-walled farm, its peaceful and refined setting, and that open horizon over a stable’s meadows, where horses graze just opposite.

We fell in love with a light: the one that settles over the plain in the evening and turns the stones of the courtyard to gold.

Giroudet, before Écrosnes

In the Middle Ages, Giroudet was a village in its own right. Écrosnes grew up beside it, until Giroudet became one of its hamlets.

The walls of the farm still carry the traces of those centuries. One part was a barn, turned towards a church that has since disappeared. Another was bombed during the Second World War, then rebuilt. Every façade tells the story of an era.

Two years to keep the soul of the place

More than a renovation, we wanted to create a place to live, warm and generous. For two years, we kept what mattered: the stone, the old beams, the soul of the place. Then we added what was missing: bathrooms you love to linger in, kitchens where people stay on at the table, fibre broadband for those who still need to work a little.

Old-world character on one side, today’s comfort on the other, and care for detail everywhere: the choice of linen, the placing of a lamp, a view of the meadows kept open from the garden.

Three names, three houses

Our houses bear babies’ names. Raphaël is our son. Auguste and Marceau are the sons of very close friends.

That was no accident. We wanted houses where people come together, where births, birthdays and reunions are celebrated, where people return year after year.

Welcoming you

Today, we’re happy to open these houses to you, as a couple, as a family, with friends or with colleagues.

Wake up to birdsong. Have your coffee facing the meadows. Watch the sun set over the plain, breathe in the fresh air and leave the city far behind.
